Why?
Jackie Robinson retired from the MLB because he got traded to the New York Giants, but never played a game with the Giants. He was famous because he walked out onto the field and then was the first black player. Everyone was very sad when he had retired because of how exciting and talented he was when Jackie was playing baseball. Jackie Robinson broke the colour barrier in sports. Technically Jackie wasn’t the first black baseball player. It was actually Moses Fleetwood Walker played baseball, but it wasn’t the major leagues yet. So I don’t know who we could call the first black player. I personally think that it was Jackie Robinson because when Moses played, Major League Baseball wasn’t a thing, therefore that makes Jackie the first black player.
